“With Lili, I read and live again,” says the Lili Light for Life slogan. The phrase rings out the hope that the startup plans to give to readers with dyslexia through the Lili Lamp. This was for sure one of the most interesting products from CES.
Frédéric Granotier, founding president of Lili Light for Life, has drawn from his entrepreneurial background to create a lamp. The lamp, also known as the Lili Light, provides people with dyslexia a better reading experience.
Background
The Lili light’s design and development were inspired by a study conducted by French physicists Albert Le Floch and Guy Ropars. Back in 2017, they performed scientific studies on the eye and found a new cause of dyslexia.
They discovered that people with dyslexia don’t have ocular dominance. The lack of ocular dominance causes images to overlay in the brain, which makes it hard to read.
How Does it Work?
When in use, the Lili lamp produces flashes of light that are invisible to the naked eye. These flashes create a delay before the reader can visually perceive the letters. During the lag, the flashes act as a substitute for a directing eye. Reading then becomes smoother, faster, and less tiring.
At its early stages of development in 2021, 30 people with dyslexia tested the lamp. Many saw the great benefits that come when using the Lili lamp. Of those who participated in the beta test, about 85% saw improvements. They included:
- The letters no longer “danced”
- Enlarged spaces between words
- Line breaks were easier to read
- Some users had less visual fatigue
- Better understanding when reading
- Numbers were easier to read
- Improved vision when wearing glasses
Potential users should keep in mind that the Lili lamp is an adaptive tool that may be used for speech therapy, not to replace it.
How does it look?
During development, the Lili Light For Life team focused on Lili Lamp’s shape, weight, autonomy, discretion, and resistance.
People of all ages may use the lamp for their convenience. Lili’s design is foldable, customizable, and rechargeable. The lamp’s 6-hour battery life and its very own storage case make it perfect and convenient for work and school.

Both IOS and Android users can download the LiliLightForLife app on their smartphones for a more personalized experience. The features on the app allow users to adjust the speed and balance settings on the lamp.
Moving Forward with the Lili Lamp
The Lili lamp will soon be available for sale through different channels.
Frédéric Granotier has vision for Lili Light For Life moving forward:
With the launch of this lamp, LILI LIGHT FOR LIFE’s ambition is to make reading easier for people with dyslexia, and therefore their daily life, which is summed in our slogan: “With Lili, I read and live again”.
