Tareq Hassan is currently serving as the Head of the Arab Youth Sustainable Development Network (AYSDN) since January 2018. He was elected as the UN Environment Regional Facilitator for Major Groups and Stakeholders (Civil Society) for the West Asia Region during the UNEP Consultative Meeting (November 2015, September 2017 and May 2020. From 2012–2020, he worked as the Chairman of International Youth Council -Yemen with 300 Staff and Volunteers working on different projects such as Water Sanitation Hygiene Assistance, Nutrition, Food Security, Health, Shelter, Protection, Governance, Education, Peace, Energy, Environment and Climate Change as well as Youth development. He has also worked as an advisor for non-government organizations in the Arab region especially for sustainable development policy and development projects. He was one of the reviewers of Global Environment Outlook. On 1st December 2020, he was appointed by Climate Action Network International as the Relation and Communication Manager for the Climate Action Network Arab World.
Tareq holds a Master of Science in Management of Sustainable Development Goals from the University of LUMSA, Italy and a Bachelor of Science in Chemical Engineering from the University of Malaya. He has gone through numerous professional training courses in leadership, management, organization management, soft skills, and research and gained a diploma in economic development from the American University in Cairo.
