Verge Motorcycles TS, Riding Into An Electric Future

Verge Motorcycles TS, Riding Into An Electric Future

The Finnish startup will be soon delivering to customers its fully electric motorbike

This month, Verge Motorcycles will begin the production of its fully electric motorbike, the Verge TS. The Finnish motorbike maker is expecting to deliver its first motorbikes to customers in a time span of one or two months.

Verge is a startup from Seinäjoki, in the South Ostrobothnia region of Finland. While Finland has always been well known in the world of motorsports for its legendary drivers – the Flying Finns in the world rally championships and its many Formula One world champions – the motor vehicles industry is not exactly what the country is known for.

There were actually two Finnish motorbike-making companies in the past, Helkama and Tunturi. Both of them have now stopped operations. But the future of the motorbike industry in Finland now might look much brighter thanks to Verge Motorcycles.

Verge is looking to change the world of motorcycles with futuristic design and clean technology. They already shocked the motorcycle industry in 2021 when they showed the prototype of the TS, featuring an impressive hubless design. This design that got Verge the Red Dot Design Award has been maintained in the TS which will start production this month.

The hubless design features a rim motor and an engine that has no chain, belt, oils, or filter. This is not possible for regular non-electric motorbikes!

Another very well noticeable feature of the Verge TS design is the 20.2 kWh battery that allows a range of over 300km (186 miles) – this figure drops to 200 km on highways. The battery is also compatible with fast charging and in just 15 minutes it is possible to add an extra 100 km of range. To fully charge the Verge TS with the embedded charger it will take 4.5 hours.

Four different power modes are available on the Verge TS: eco, highway, max, and an extra customizable mode through which each customer can manage regenerative breaking, and the other electric engine setting of the motorbike to either choose more range or higher energy consumption – and more speed.

The Verge TS can reach a top speed of over 180 km/h (110mph). As usual, what impresses the most for electric vehicles is the torque which is 1000Nm – comparable to a car with 1,000 horsepower. The 102 kW of power, combined with a light weight of only 249 Kg allows for a 0-100 km/h (0-60mph) acceleration in just under 4 seconds.

If you wish to order a Verge TS, you can check the Verge webpage. Its price is fairly competitive at 24,990 euros plus VAT – depending on the country of the customer. We are hoping many riders will choose to switch to electric-powered motorbikes like the Verge TS in the near future!
