There is an impossible scent. It is composed from residues and memories of many fragrances from anonymous donors, mixed and trapped inside glass sculptures. This is the essence of Alessandro Piangiamore. An elusive provocation, unattainable beauty, such as the mixture of melted waxes, residues of candles from the churches of Rome that creates layers of knowledge and memories. Under the gaze of his curious and mischievous smile, Alesssandro lurks a complex aesthetic, both contemporary and archaic. His desire to represent concepts and unseizable forms, such as the wind, the weight, the time, make his artistic research, through the study of different materials and media, a wonderful metaphysical journey.
I met Alessandro in a sicilian bar in Rome, and in front of a fried arancina, I understood that talking about his work wasn’t easy, as he has the privacy and modesty of true artists. So he likes to be the one asking questions and, chat about life . “And please Silvia, remember to collect for me waste of wax candles if you find them around!”
