New outlook for data center construction in Florida
The state of Florida is a great location for data centers on paper: the region is pro-business, the AI boom is driving the demand, so data center operators in constant search of new locations eventually come to Florida, especially when several other states issue moratoriums on data center construction.
The perfect match is now under scrutiny from the locals. It is common knowledge that data centers require vast amounts of resources for both initial construction and further operations.
The situation caused locals to file petitions against the new projects. Eventually, Governor Ron DeSantis signed a law this year regulating data centers’ massive electricity and water consumption. Developers are quick to pivot. For example, a 1,600-acre hyperscale site planned in Nassau County might be converted into a solar plant following community pressure.

Trillions of won and gigawatts of energy for South Korea’s AI development

South Korea has presented its industrial roadmap set to define the nation’s progress and significant role in frontier technological advancements. Samsung alone pledges nearly $300 billion to build new semiconductor and advanced memory chip factories. A broader plan through 2040 includes investment allocations exceeding $1.5 trillion. By 2028, Korea’s largest infrastructure companies, such as SK, GS Group, and Naver, are targeting 8.4 gigawatts of AI data center capacity.
The main differentiator of South Korea’s AI development strategy is physical AI. The government has great ambitions in the field of robotics. The sites under development are also starting to spread beyond Seoul, where most of the current infrastructure is congested. The president stated that the project was a matter of “survival” for the country to address the decline in rural areas.

Heatwaves in Europe indicate increased costs of climate change denial

Amid the worst European June heatwave on record, EU Vice-President Teresa Ribera spoke out about the severity of the climate change issue being exposed. The extreme temperatures that caused more than 1,300 deaths, according to the WHO, and even led to the shutdown of nuclear reactors, are not just weather. In Ribera’s opinion, they are additional proof that the opponents of the Green Deal push ideologically motivated lies.
In her defense of the Green New Deal, Ribera uses both a scientific approach and political rhetoric. New Delhi on path towards EV adoption

New Delhi is consistently ranked as the most polluted capital in the world. The heavy traffic, the industrial operations, and the never-ending construction: all of these factors contribute to very poor air quality in the city. On Monday, a brand-new policy was adopted to reduce heavy traffic pollution.
The local city government has allocated more than $1.5 billion to motivate residents to switch to EVs. It currently offers people $ 1,000 to give up old cars in exchange for electric vehicles. An installation of 32.000 EV charging ports across the city is also a move in the right direction for the new regulation.
