Quicargo, the startup company that helps to connect businesses to trucks with empty space in real-time matching, was born when the founder Avishai Trabelsi was managing his family transport company in Israel.
They were struggling with very low margins due to the increasing costs and high competition in the market and he soon realized that the only thing he could do to improve it was to utilize his existing assets in a better way.
If you have a truck fleet, we recommend you to take a look to Matrack Inc. as they offer tracking solutions and business boosting concepts for trucking and fleets. In addition, if you’re an aspiring truck driver who’s on a lookout for Truck Driver Positions, you can only be qualified to drive professionally when you undergo special training, such as that hgv training.
He then thought he could apply the same principle to solve a problem that could affect other people and he decided to quit his company and start Quicargo.
Impakter today is speaking with Avishai to find out more about his company.
How does Quicargo work?
Avishai Trabelsi: Quicargo is an online cargo matching platform that connects empty trucks to any business that needs transportation in real time, with the aim of reducing greenhouse gas emissions and congestion on the road, they even put clients in contact with the best truck rental companies, like the ones at www.miramarspeedcircuit.com/truck-rental-guide.
Quicargo uses a pricing and matching algorithm that helps us to find the best match between shipper and carrier. The matching algorithm is based on different data sources such as planning data, routing, schedules, congestion and more. On top of that, we use AI to learn the behavior of the users and improve the prediction and the best match.
The dynamic pricing algorithm aggregates all the different elements to ensure that each price is the best price for both sides based on physical information, seasonality, geography and available capacity in the area. By using the two algorithms, we are able to predict the best match in the hectic distribution industry and to close the deal by offering the best price for both parties.
Quicargo differentiates itself from the competition by offering an easy end-to-end solution to their shippers, from instant pricing to insurance and giving our customers the best service. Quicargo also offers integration to the carriers planning systems or the shippers warehouse management systems, to provide a hands-free solution.
How many clients do you have at the moment? Have you seen your business growing in the last couple of years?
A. T. : Since Quicargo started in 2016, more than 2,000 shippers and 300 carriers have signed up and used Quicargo. These numbers have significantly increased over the years, as in 2016 we focused on pilots and testing the platform, in 2017 we launched a new version of the platform that included direct pricing and in 2018 we started with new sales and marketing strategies, which resulted in an impressive growth in the number of shippers and carriers that are connected to the platform.

What do you think needs to be done to reduce global warming? What kind of impact do you think your company can have on the environment?
A. T. : According to the climate top that was held in Paris in 2015, the goal was to reduce greenhouse gas emissions with 80% by 2050.
Most of the industries are going in the right direction and are actually doing something to reduce the emissions. The emissions of the transportation industry, however, keep increasing due to the high demand and inefficiency in the market. According to research [Source: World Economic Forum – reports.weforum.org/digital-transformation/the-digital-transformation-of-logistics-threat-and-opportunity/], 50% of the 13 million trucks in Europe travel empty or partially empty and trucks are responsible for 20% of the traffic in congestion. To solve this global problem, Quicargo uses this empty space by matching freight to carriers that are already going in that direction. If accidents were to happen on the road, having a reliable licensed professional who offer truck accident law services would come in handy.
What are your thoughts about the SDGs (Sustainable Development Goals)?
A. T. : As the road transportation is the lifeblood of the economy, reduction of empty trucks on the road is directly and indirectly influencing and improving the majority all the SDG’s from decent work and economic growth to climate action. We believe that the SDG’s are a guideline for our decade and we try to touch upon as many points as possible during our journey as a dynamic, innovative and sustainable company. If you’re looking for trucks, such as garbage trucks, for instance, for your business operations and to fuel efficiency, there are sites which offer trucks that are either for sale or for rent.
