Trump poses an increased threat to the U.S. Constitution
In an interview with CBS News, Trump was pressed on whether he will commit to upholding the Constitution, and he responded: “I don’t know. I’m not, I’m not a lawyer. I don’t know.” The U.S. Constitution’s Fifth Amendment says “no person” shall be “deprived of life, liberty, or property, without due process of law.” Trump stated that his administration will continue to push for the immediate removal of immigrants, without giving them a chance to plead their case before a judge.
Over the weekend, Trump also announced his intention to “cease federal funding for NPR and PBS,” the nation’s primary public broadcasters, claiming ideological bias.

Shell explores acquisition of BP

Shell’s consideration of a BP takeover is gaining traction as BP’s stock continues to slide and investor pressure mounts. Shell is waiting for further stock and oil price declines before deciding whether to pursue a bid. The potential deal, one of the largest in oil industry history, comes as BP battles prolonged underperformance in its net-zero strategy, Trump’s trade war, and a surprise acceleration in supply by OPEC+. As Shell refocuses on fossil fuels and disciplined growth, the company says any acquisition must deliver strong returns and enhance free cash flow in the near term.

Formula 1 Chief says sustainable fuel is “much more expensive than anyone thought”

According to Mercedes Formula One (F1) team principal Toto Wolff, the cost of developing sustainable fuels has exceeded expectations. Speaking ahead of the planned 2026 rollout of 100% sustainable fuel, Wolff noted that R&D costs are “double what we thought,” though he remains committed to the sport’s net-zero targets. F1 aims to become carbon neutral by 2030, but the announcement raises questions about the economic viability of F1’s transition to 100% clean energy and sustainable fuel. F1 teams face growing pressure to balance sustainability goals with financial performance as fuel technology seems more costly than initially projected.

Mission Zero launches carbon capture plant to create green jobs and materials

Mission Zero, a UK-based climate tech, has launched its second Direct Air Capture (DAC) plant in Norfolk, aiming to sequester more CO2 than emitted, create sustainable limestone for construction, and boost industrial job opportunities. In partnership with O.C.O Technology and the UK government, the facility captures CO₂ using industrial fans and converts it into building aggregate, reducing the carbon footprint of local infrastructure projects. The initiative pioneers carbon-negative material production and is also a huge step for creating high-quality green jobs in the UK. Mission Zero plans to expand its operations with additional carbon capture plants, including a system in Canada, which will focus on the sequestration of CO₂ in geological formations.
