Switzerland sets target of 65% reduction in greenhouse gas emission by 2035
Switzerland aims to reduce its greenhouse gas emissions by 65% by 2035, compared to 1990 levels, in line with the Paris Agreement. The new goal will form the basis of Switzerland’s Nationally Determined Contribution (NDC) under the Paris Agreement. NDCs are national climate action plans that are required to be updated with more ambitious goals every 5 years. Action plans are essential to meeting climate goals, and businesses are proving more successful with ESG solutions.

New cargo ship captures its CO2 emissions using CCS technology
The Clipper Eris cargo ship is launching a two-year pilot project to capture CO2 from its exhaust and store it onboard. Equipped with carbon capture (CCS) technology, the system targets to recover 70% of the ship’s CO2 emissions. This technology would be a significant factor in decarbonising the shipping industry. The Clipper departs Singapore in early February for its testing mission.

Meta and Zelestra sign deal to boost renewable energy in Texas
Meta has partnered with Zelestra to develop four new solar energy projects in Texas, delivering 595 megawatts of energy. With Meta’s target to reach net-zero emissions by 2030, these projects are required to help sustainably power Meta data centres in Texas. This deal is among many already signed by Meta to increase renewable energy usage across its value chain. Businesses aiming to reduce emissions across their value chains can adopt the use of ESG tools to hit emission targets.
