IFC Launches Landmark Review to Redefine Global ESG Standards by 2028

The IFC has launched a multi-year review of its Sustainability Framework, influencing over $4.5 trillion in emerging market investments. Last updated in 2012, the framework guides environmental and social standards for IFC and Equator Principles-aligned institutions. The updated version, expected by 2028, aims to address climate change, Indigenous rights, and financial intermediary risks. With two phases of stakeholder engagement, the review offers a unique chance to reshape ESG standards across global financial institutions and private sector investments.

RBI’s New LCR Guidelines to Unlock $35 Billion, Boost Credit Growth

Fueling Credit Growth

The Reserve Bank of India’s new guidelines on banks’ liquidity coverage ratio (LCR) will free up up to 3 trillion rupees ($35.24 billion), boosting credit growth by 1-2 percentage points, analysts estimate. By lowering the required proportion of high-quality liquid assets, banks will have more lendable resources. The changes, effective from April 2026, aim to address slowing credit growth and are expected to improve margins by 2-4 basis points for lenders in the current financial year. To navigate the evolving landscape of sustainability, see ESG solutions.
