Dr. Chee Su Yin is a Senior Lecturer and researcher at the Centre for Marine and Coastal Studies, Universiti Sains Malaysia. Born and bred on Penang Island, Malaysia, her interests in the ocean was sparked through reading National Geographic magazines. Her current research focuses on coastal conservation covering topics like anthropogenic marine debris accumulation in mangrove ecosystems and is pioneering eco-engineering efforts on the island and in her country. During her free time she advocates for the natural environment and tries out new recipes in the kitchen.
