Since 2004, Jane Madgwick has been CEO of Wetlands International, leading a network of 20 offices operating in over 100 countries. The main focus of the organisation is in the developing world –on rivers and lakes, peatlands, deltas and coasts. Wetlands International builds knowledge and facilitates action to safeguard and restore wetlands for biodiversity conservation, water security, disaster risk reduction, climate resilience and livelihoods. By working with governments, companies, knowledge institutes and civil society organisations, Wetlands International brokers knowledge and leverages change at a landscape scale. Their vision is a world where wetlands are treasured and nurtured for their beauty, the life they support and the resources they provide. Jane is prominent in building partnerships and global dialogues that enable ecosystem-based solutions, contributing to achieve a safe and secure world. Previously Jane worked for WWF in Europe and Australia.
