Ecomark: India
Certificate Description
The Ecomark: India label is a seal of approval program for environmentally preferable consumer products operated by the Government of India.
The eco-labelling scheme known as `Ecomark’ was launched in 1991 for consumer awareness and easy identification of environment-friendly products. The criteria follows a cradle-to-grave approach, i.e. from raw material extraction, to manufacturing, and to disposal. The Ecomark label is awarded to consumer goods that meet the specified environmental criteria and the quality requirements of Indian Standards.
The label is developed and managed by the Bureau of Indian Standards (BIS), the National Standard Body of India established under the BIS Act 2016 for the harmonious development of the activities of standardization, marking and quality certification of goods and for matters connected therewith or incidental thereto.
