CARB-certified
Certificate Description
CARB-certified is mandatory requirement for all portable indoor air cleaning devices and in-duct air cleaning devices in California. A CARB certificate means the air cleaners are tested for electrical safety and ozone emissions below 0.050 parts per million (50 ppb).
The objective of the CARB certificate is to maintain quality of the air inside California homes, schools, and workplaces. Health is improved and protected with the certificate because it identifies and reduces sources of indoor air pollutants.
The CARB certification is managed by the California Air Resources Board (CARB) under their Indoor Air Program. This program sponsors and conducts indoor air quality research, develops indoor air quality recommendations, provides educational resources to the public, and regulates indoor air cleaners to ensure consumer safety. In addition to the Indoor Air Program, CARB covers 33 topics and manages 222 programs to protect public health from the harmful effects of air pollution.
