BEPOS
Certificate Description
BEPOS, in French “Bâtiment à Energie Positive”, defines buildings that produce more energy than they consume. The BEPOS & BEPOS+ Effinergie labels certifies these buildings to ensure they function autonomously.
The labels are based on several principles such as the limitation of all energy losses thanks to good insulation of the walls, roof and openings; a housing arrangement that allows free energy inputs; the use of energy-efficient equipment for heating, lighting or appliances; the use of renewable resources; and a reflection on embodied energy which makes it possible to limit the energy expended from construction to the demolition of the building, thanks to the use of local and recyclable materials.
The labels are developed and managed by Effinergie, a French association aiming to boost a new level of energy efficiency in buildings under construction and renovation.
