USDA BioPreferred
Certificate Description
The USDA BioPreferred is a certification program for biobased products, which refers to products determined to be commercial or industrial products that is composed, in whole or in significant part, of biological products.
The goal of the BioPreferred Program is to increase the purchase and use of biobased products. The Program’s purpose is to spur economic development, create new jobs and provide new markets for farm commodities.
The certification is developed and managed by the United States Department of Agriculture (USDA), the federal executive department responsible for developing and executing federal laws related to farming, forestry, rural economic development, and food.
