Certificate Description
Friend of the Sea certification program allows assessment of fisheries and aquaculture products according to sustainability criteria and requirements.
The certification, granted following an audit by independent certification bodies, ensures that a product complies with the sustainability requirements. Requirements are classified as Essential, Important or Recommendations, according to their level of importance.
The program is developed and managed by Friend of the Sea, a non-governmental organisation aiming to safeguard the marine environment and its resources by incentivising a sustainable market and implementing specific conservation projects.
