Greenguard Gold
Certificate Description
The Greenguard Certification is a third-party chemical emissions standard which aims to reduce indoor air pollution and the risk of chemical exposure. The Greenguard Certification emissions limits were first used as purchasing specifications for the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) and the state of Washington for furniture and commercial building products. The certification criteria have also been the basis for the LEED credit for low-emitting furniture since 2002.
In addition to the Greenguard Certification criteria, the Greenguard Gold Certification also includes health-based criteria for additional chemicals and requires lower total VOC emissions levels to help ensure that products are acceptable for use in environments like schools and healthcare facilities.
The certification was developed by UL, which helps companies demonstrate safety, enhance sustainability, strengthen security, deliver quality, manage risk and achieve regulatory compliance.
