The International Labour Standards aim to promote opportunities for women and men to obtain decent and productive work, in conditions of freedom, equity, security and dignity.
The standards were put in place as today’s globalized economy require labour standards as an essential component in the international framework for ensuring that the growth of the global economy provides benefits to all.
The standards are developed and managed by the International Labour Organization (ILO), a specialized agency of the United Nations (UN) dedicated to setting labour standards, developing policies and devising programmes that promote decent work for all women and men.
