The IFC Performance Standards on Environmental and Social Sustainability provide guidance to clients on how to identify risks and impacts.
The Standards are designed to help avoid, mitigate, and manage risks and impacts as a way of doing business in a sustainable way, including stakeholder engagement and disclosure obligations of the client in relation to project-level activities. Together, the eight Performance Standards establish standards that the client is to meet throughout the life of an investment.
The Standards are developed by the International Finance Corporation, the largest global development institution focused on the private sector in developing countries.
