Certificate Description
The Better Environmental Sustainability Targets (BEST) certification provides recognition for lead battery manufacturers that meet minimum emission standards and agree to take back used batteries for environmentally sound recycling.
The objective of the BEST is to reduce emissions from lead battery plants and recyclers, and prevent lead poisoning through an incentive program for these companies.
The certification is developed by Occupational Knowledge International (OK International) works to build capacity in developing countries to identify, monitor, and mitigate environmental and occupational exposures to hazardous materials in order to protect public health and the environment.
