Non-GMO Project Standard
Certificate Description
The Non-GMO Project Standard is a program that certifies, protects and builds a non-GMO food supply.
A Genetically Modified Organism (GMO), is a plant, animal, microorganism or other organism whose genetic makeup has been modified in a laboratory using genetic engineering or transgenic technology. This creates combinations of plant, animal, bacterial and virus genes that do not occur in nature or through traditional crossbreeding methods, which has considerable impacts on human health.
The Standard was developed by the Non-GMO Project, whose mission is to preserve and build sources of non-GMO products, provide verified non-GMO choices, and educate consumers and the food industry to help build awareness about GMOs and their impact on our health.
