Our Story
How it started: Impakter News was launched in 2014 with the aim to help the world fight inequity and achieve survival in the face of existential challenges. Born one year before the UN Sustainable Development Goals were unanimously adopted by 193 member states in 2015, Imparter at first reported on social and environmental issues, ranging from climate change and pollution to income inequality, gender discrimination, and worker exploitation. With its focus on drawing lessons about how to achieve sustainability, it soon gained a worldwide audience.
The next big step: The Impakter Sustainability Index: Very quickly, Impakter went from publishing articles by world experts from academia and UN technical agencies as well as partner institutions like WRI, WFO, ANGA, CEJA, Accredia, to building a reliable sustainability rating system for business, the first of its kind, published in 2020

Our purpose is to support SMEs to fully integrate sustainability best practices in the operations, including transparency, employee engagement and applying an ethical code of conduct that ensures both customers’ and employees’ fidelity and well-being.
